Thurman Hardy “Thurm” Warford went to be in the arms of the Lord peacefully at 10:15 PM on Saturday evening June 8, 2024 at his home with his two sons by his side.

Thurman was born on October 31, 1936 at his grandmother's home in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to Parker and Carrie Warford. He grew up in Redford, Michigan and graduated from Redford Union High School in the class of 1954. He worked at Dunn Steel after high school, and after meeting his wife of 60 years, Geraldine, he was hired by the Ann Arbor Police Department in 1958.

He worked patrol, walked the beat, and helped with communications / dispatch. On University of Michigan Football Saturdays he would work the games on the field and was eventually picked to be the Team Locker Room Officer during Bo Schembechler’s tenure as head coach. He did this duty through the 1986 season and then retired from the force in early 1987. After he retired from the Ann Arbor PD he worked for Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor for a number of years in which he had the honor of driving Coach Bo to his resting place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Ann Arbor, 2006. He was an avid Michigan Football Fan. Never missing a game, attending in person and later televised. He was also a big Detroit Tigers and Red Wings fan. Thurman also enjoyed

dining frequently at Lucas of South Lyon, being up north, and snowmobiling

with his two sons and dear friends.

He was a devout member of Brighton Assembly of God Church in Brighton, MI. He will be greatly missed by his family, survived by his two sons, Joel (Anna) and Brent, sister Wilma Deane Taulbee, two nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, parents Parker and Carrie, and sister Roberta Scroggins.
