Robert A. Yutzy Obituary

Robert A. Yutzy, of Wooster, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was 66 years old.


Born on July 6, 1957, in Wooster, Robert was the son of the late Albert S. and Anna L. (Stutzman) Yutzy. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army and later went on to retire from the former Apple Creek Developmental Center and Mount Vernon Developmental Center.


Robert's memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Melanie (Jason) Hull and Jessica Yutzy, as well as his eight grandchildren, Braeden, Brent, Brooklyn, Lily, Kayson, Maskyden, Cairus, and Tammin. He was a loving brother to Wayne (Deborah) Yutzy, Al Jr. (Kelly) Yutzy, Paul (Wilma) Yutzy, Dave Yutzy, Kathy Schrier, Melvin (Elizabeth) Hostetler, Gary Yutzy, and Sharon (Paul) Mullins.


In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Yutzy.


Robert's life was marked by selflessness and service. For over a decade, he volunteered with the Salvation Army every Christmas, joyfully ringing the bell to spread cheer and goodwill. He also dedicated nine years to packing Christmas boxes for Schisler's Cheese House, bringing holiday joy to the community and beyond.


In his professional life, Robert served as a Therapeutic Program Worker at both the Apple Creek Developmental Center and the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities, finding immense fulfillment in bringing joy to their day-to-day experiences. Whether it was taking them to baseball games, organizing tours of local businesses, or embarking on other fun adventures, Robert's compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on those he served.


A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pier At Lighthouse of Hope, located at 10470 Winesburg Rd, Dundee, OH 44624, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and remember Robert's life, sharing memories and finding comfort in each other's presence. Robert will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.

Interment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, located at 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 1:45 pm.
