Inda Delyea Obituary

Inda Iva Delyea (nee Lloyd) 1929 - 2024

One of the many maxims of our philosophical mother, Inda, (when in any kind of a waiting situation) was “You have got to be somewhere.” On Sunday, April 21st, 2024 Inda quickly and unexpectedly passed away after a short illness while a patient at Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton.

Inda was born on Sunday, May 12th, 1929 in Flinton, the youngest child of Peter and Myrtle Lloyd. She leaves to cherish her memory sons Douglas and Larry (Marilyn), daughter Leila (Neil) and son Roger as well as grandchildren, honorary grandchildren and a small crop of great grandchildren. Although Inda lived contentedly in Edmonton since 1991, two thirds of her years were etched in her Ontario homeland and pieces of her heart remained there throughout her life. Mom continued to retain a sense of connection and it was a pleasant thought knowing her several nieces, nephews and sister-in-law, Laura Delyea were never too far away from where her own roots sprouted. While we will greatly miss her, family is likewise comforted to know she is safe home in “the Kingdom of the Most Kind and Merciful Loving Heavenly Father” — a term she relished. She is now in the ultimate “Somewhere!”

A Celebration of Inda’s Life will take place at Milestone Funeral Center, Northbrook, on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 1:00 pm with interment of urn at Northbrook United Church Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at Barrie Community Hall. Friends desiring may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada with appreciation. Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.milestonefuneralcenter.com
