Terry Allen Dawson Obituary

Life Is But A Dash

Terry Allen Dawson was born March 8, 1957 to William Richard Dawson and Loretta Alenta Dawson in Cincinnati, Ohio. Terry transitioned from this earth at the age of 67. He grew up in Avondale and Walnut Hills. William and Loretta later moved the family to Bond Hill where Terry attended Crest Hill Jr High and Woodward High School.

Terry was veteran of the military serving in the Navy and Air Force for many years. He was honorably discharged with numerous accolades and degrees. His time in the Navy was spent working numerous jobs but his personal highlight was working as a barber. During his time in the Air Force he worked on the airplane hydraulics. He was able to travel around the world during his time of service as he would rave about the time he spent in Japan. Terry resided in Modesto, California with his former wife and later returned home to Cincinnati in the early 90's.

Terry was a devoted Bengals fan. He loved to cook, talk sports and music; He would argue about sports or any topic for that matter. Terry played tennis and basketball. You could find him walking the neighborhood with a fresh pair of Nike's.

Terry was love, he loved hard and he had no problem telling you how much he loved you. Terry was a free spirit that enjoyed life and spending quality time with family.

Terry as a teenager was ordered by his mom to take care of his younger brother Quincy when she joined the work force. Terry would tell everyone that his little brother Quincy was his son. Terry never had any biological children however he handled the role as a father for many family members. He would always get on his nieces and nephews about calling to check in just to let him know that they are okay. He would emphasize calling as he was not one to text. Terry truly had a heart for his nieces and nephews they were his world.

The name Terry means "power of the tribe". He was definitely the family bodyguard; Some would even say the family's protector.

Terry was proceeded in death by his mother Loretta Alenta Dawson, brothers Richard Dawson Jr, James "Jimmy" Roscoe Dawson, John "Johnny" Richard Dawson, Eugene William Dawson, and Anthony Dawson. Terry is survived by his former wife; his father William Richard Dawson; siblings Cathy Dawson, Tanya "Tanji" Woods (Harvey), Gay Rose Griffin, Ronald Dawson, Kenneth "Kenny" Dawson of Rochester, NY, Robert Dawson of Chula Vista, CA, Roberta Dawson, Quincy P. Dawson (Doneta) of Charlotte, NC, sister-in-law Janet Sabir, a host of nieces and nephews, Aunt Jackie Dawson, many cousins and friends.
