Irene Dykty Obituary

Irene Sophie (Saska) Dykty, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024 at Bishop Wicke Adult Care Center in Shelton, Connecticut.


Irene was born on February 7, 1930, in Ansonia Connecticut, the daughter of the late Lucy (Karkut) Saska and Joseph Saska. She graduated from Ansonia High School. After having her children, Irene moved to Seymour to raise them.


Irene dedicated her life to her family, raising her children, babysitting her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She enjoyed socializing and swimming at the Ansonia YMCA until their closing. She enjoyed making ceramics, knitting, crocheting.and doing sudoku’s.


Irene is predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley Dykty and brother, Walter Saska of Florida brother, Joseph (Buster) Saska of Ansonia, brother Stanley (Buzzy) Saska, sister, Mary Simjian of New Haven, sister, Ann Chometa of New Haven and sister, Genevieve (Jenny) Parkosevich of Seymour.


Irene is survived by her loving children, son, Michael Stanley Dykty and wife Patricia of Lynchburg Virginia, son, Kenneth Walter Dykty of Ogden, Utah and daughter, Debra Jo Julian and husband Michael of Seymour. Irene leaves behind three grandchildren, Joseph Julian, Teos Dykty and Angela Julian.


Family and friends will be received on June 13, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Miller Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour, CT 06483. A Funeral mass will be held on June 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Good Shepard Church - St. Nicholas Parish at 135 Mountain Road, Seymour CT. Burial will immediately follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Cedar Street, Seymour, CT.


The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Heights and Bishop Wicke for the exceptional care given by all of the staff.
