Janet Clara Ford, 94, of Springfield, died at 8:11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8. 2024, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.


She was born September 24, 1929, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Herschel and Ruth Etta Hopkins Roberts.


Janet graduated from Springfield High School and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of St. John Vianney in Sherman and previously at St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham. Janet was also involved in various women’s groups with different Catholic churches. She was an avid reader, sold various brands of cosmetics and jewelry, and loved to write poetry.


She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Ford; daughter, Beverly Joyce; and sister, Gladys Roberts.


Janet is survived by her son, Daniel (Theresa) Ford of O’Fallon, MO; daughters, Mary Kay (Tim) Austiff of Springfield, Carolyn Rome of St. Rose, LA, Cynthia (Larry) Ayers of Dunnelon, FL, and Nancy Heller of DeKalb, IL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Ken (Carol) Roberts of Stratford, Ontario.


Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
