Jolly Douglas Sturgill, 75, of Auxier, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center.


Jolly was born on February 15, 1949 in Floyd County, a son of the late Robert Burns Sturgill and Bessie Maria Dennis.


He proudly served his country in the United States Army where he served 3 years before being honorably discharged receiving a Purple Heart.


Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jeralene Warrix Sturgill, of Auxier, KY.;

daughters, Denise (Jorge) Hernandez of Poquoson, VA and Tina Chapman of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Haley (Andy) Martin of Murrieta, CA, Wade Chapman of Lexington, KY, Jacob Hernandez of Poquoson, VA and Don Hernandez of Colorado Springs, CO.; great grandchildren, Avianna (Avi) and Lorenzo (Enzo) Martin; sisters, Kathy Hubbard of Mason, OH and Mitzi Worrix (Jimmy) of Raccoon, KY.


Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Dwain Sturgill, and a sister, Judy Vivian Sturgill.


The Family will accept friends on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 for visitation from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM with funeral services for Jolly beginning at 12:00 PM at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home. D.A.V. rites will be observed by the Johns Creek D.A.V. Chapter 166. Burial will to follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery. Louisa Primitive Baptist Church will officiate over the funeral service.
