Mildred Guillermin (Walter) Obituary

Guillermin, Mildred (nee Walter) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 30, 2024

in Abington, PA at the age of 102.


She was born February 8, 1922 in Buffalo, N.Y. to Sophie and Arthur Walter. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Larry R. Guillermin, loving mother to Judith Lynn Guillermin and aunt to 31 nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and great grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Also survived by a sister-in-law, Louanne (Pierre) Guillermin.


Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Lenore Walter, William (Bernadine) Walter, Violet (nee Walters) Hakes, Edwin (June) Walter, George (Lucille) Walter; nephews, David and William Walter Jr.; nieces, Bonnie (Hakes) D’Auria, Kristen (D’Auria) Simon.


Mildred graduated from Maston High School in Buffalo, NY. She was an excellent student, especially in math and spelling. She played all sports and was on the girl’s baseball team. As a teen she attended First Baptist Church where she gave her life to Jesus Christ and met her future husband. She was a Department Manager for Woolworth’s until her marriage to Larry October 2, 1942. She was active in the Music, Children’s, and Women’s Ministry of Pastored Churches in Arcade, Jamestown, Royalton, and Buffalo, N.Y. In 1970 the family moved to Abington, PA, where her husband Larry was Assistant Pastor at Faith Community Church. Mildred and Judy have attended Church of the Open Door for many years.


Relatives and friends are invited for calling hours Wednesday 6/12/24 at Christian Fellowship Baptist church 765 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst, NY 14226 11 AM-12 noon. Funeral Service followed by Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Avenue, Fort Washington, PA 19034, or to Hillsdale College, 33 East College Street, Hillsdale, MI 49242.
