Guadalupe Maldonado Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Guadalupe Maldonado, lovingly known to all as "Don Lupe." At the age of 80, Guadalupe left this world on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Solara Specialty Hospital in McAllen. Born in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on June 22, 1943, to Francisco and Paula Maldonado, his life was a testament to dedication, humility, and love.

Guadalupe was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His beloved wife, Maria Olga Maldonado, preceded him in death, along with two of their children, Eduardo Maldonado and Sandra Meza Maldonado, and his cherished parents. Despite these losses, Guadalupe's spirit remained steadfast and his love for his family unwavering.

Surviving Guadalupe are his three children, Juanita (Armando) Torres, Olga (Gilberto) Montes, and Edgar Maldonado, who will carry forward his legacy of hard work and devotion. His six grandchildren, Ruben Meza Maldonado, Gilberto Montes Jr., Alan Torres, Sandra Montes, Dayanara Torres, and Anabella Montes brought immense joy to his life and were the light of his later years.

For over 40 years, Guadalupe was a pillar in the agricultural community, known for his incredible work ethic and commitment. Starting as a humble grape harvester, he diligently worked his way up to becoming a tractor operator, and ultimately the esteemed head foreman, overseeing all farm workers and machinery operators. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his devotion to his family.

Guadalupe was a simple and humble man, whose greatest priority was always his loved ones. He found happiness in the little things, like enjoying his favorite dish, "cabrito", and the companionship of his loyal furry friend, Pinto, who stayed by his side until the very end.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Flores Funeral Home in Mission, TX. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, TX. Guadalupe will be laid to rest at Santa Fe Cemetery in Mission, TX.

Funeral arrangements are under the compassionate care of Flores Funeral Home of Mission. Guadalupe's legacy of love, hard work, and humility will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
