Oscar Leroy Burnett Obituary

Oscar Leroy Burnett, age 86, of Holliday, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.


Oscar was born July 25, 1937 in Hannibal, MO the son of Timothy and Charlotte Mae (Brownlee) Burnett. He was united in marriage to Mary Helen Darle on March 21, 1975. Oscar was a Baptist by faith and a saved believer of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering and building yard ornaments and creative gifts for family and friends, taking care of his tractors, and was an avid collector of many things, including buttons, thimbles, salt & pepper shakers, and M&M characters. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.


He is survived by his stepchildren, Kenneth Baker, Carol Yagel, and Amy Baker; numerous step grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Eads and Carolyn Boyer; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.


He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary on August 9, 1993; a beloved grandson, Corey Baker; and several brothers and sisters, Bessie Burnett, James Burnett, Urial Burnett, Delores Condict, Timothy Franklin Burnett Jr., Roberta Dooley, Shirley Reed, Wanita Goodin, and Edward Burnett.


Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, MO with Guy Callison officiating. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery of Holliday, MO.
