James Herman Sego Obituary

James (Jim) Sego, 91, peacefully passed away on Saturday June 8th, 2024, at his home in Perry. He was born July 8th, 1932, in Indiana to Coleman (Bud) and Esther Sego.

Jim married Mary Jane Vanwelsenaere in 1952 and together had three children, Douglas (Virginia) Sego, Patricia (Timothy) O’Bryant, and Thomas (Kimberly) Sego. They grew the family with many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.

In 1986, Jim married Janice Green adding to the family children Cynthia (Todd) DeLau, Michael (Pamela) Green, and Patrick (Vonnie) Green. Who added more Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren to the family.

Jim was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. His service did not end there, he served as the police commissioner of Perry, a member of the city council, and the Lions Club. He was a very proud member of the Ironworkers Local 25 for over 65 years and continued to use his talents making wrought iron railings for many. He enjoyed traveling, there were many trips to Wyoming that led to 23 years at the Sego’s Shack in Clark. A welcoming home away from home that many visited over the years.

Jim’s presence has brought joy, love, and laughter to his family and for that we are forever grateful. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.

Honoring his wishes, private family burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery.

Jim and his family are being cared for by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel.
