Robert "Bob" Featheringham Obituary

Robert “Bob” Featheringham, 82 of South Bloomfield, OH passed away peacefully after fighting dementia for several years on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living in Grove City, OH.  He was born on September 29, 1941 to the late Rolland E. and Gretchen L. (Plum) Featheringham in Columbus, OH.   He was a 1959 graduate of Ashville High School and a 1963 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Harrison Township from 1959-1989 and achieved the rank of Captain.  He also worked for the Ashville Bank for a number of years before taking a job with the Ohio Department of Public Safety as an EMT and Paramedic Inspector.  He was appointed to the position of Executive Director of the Ohio Ambulance Licensing Board before retiring after 30 years with Ohio Public Employees.  His second love was working for the Pickaway County Sheriff’s office that started in 1959 when he worked as a Deputy for Sheriff Walt Spangler.  He continued to work part time for the Sheriff’s Department first as a Deputy Sheriff then the Supervisor of the Communications Department.  He retired from the Sheriff’s Department when then Sheriff Rob Radcliff had left the office.  He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Buckeye State Sheriff Assoc. and a life member of Ashville Knights of Pythias. Bob enjoyed reading, listening to music, watching the birds and volunteering at the Pickaway County Senior Center.                      

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by aunts Helen Cromley and Eliza Plum. 

Robert is survived by his wife of 38 years Patricia A. (Adkins) Featheringham; children Elizabeth Terry and Todd R. Featheringham; sister Nancy Featheringham.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13th with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14th at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103 with Rev. Ron Reese officiating.  Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery in South Bloomfield.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:   Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or Harrison Township Firefighter Assoc. 3625 State Route 752, Ashville, OH 43103
