John Buffington, 79, of Lebanon, PA, died Sunday, June 9, 2024, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital.

 

He was the husband of Marlene (Field) Buffington, whom he married on July 8, 1967.

 

Born in Hershey, on May 25, 1945, he was a son of the late John and Sara (Yeager) Buffington.

 

A 1963 graduate of Central Dauphin High School, he served in the U.S. Army. John worked for Yellow Freight Systems as a tractor trailer mechanic for over 25 years, retiring in 2008.

 

John was a member of R Field and Stream. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, wildlife artist, and woodcarver who enjoyed spending time in the woods. John was a devoted and loving husband and father. He also appreciated his close friendships with his neighbors.

 

John is  survived by a daughter, Jodi, married to Brian Himelright, of State College, PA; and a brother, Samuel Buffington, of Middletown, PA. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy Buffington, who died in 1973; and sisters, Eleanor, Shirley, Katherine, and Deanna.

 

Graveside service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 10 a.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to R Field and Stream Association of Lebanon County, 1575 Weavertown Road, Lebanon, PA.
