Obituary

Leonard was born September 21,1946 in Roxboro, North Carolina to the late Paul Leonard and Estelle Talley Pettiford. He departed this life on June 2, 2024.

Leonard attended Person County Schools in Roxboro, NC. Leonard moved to Yonkers, NY in the sixties where he resided until his passing. He met and fell in love with the love his life the late Helen Brinson, which they were blessed with two children Paul ”Redd” Brinson and Christina “Tina” Brinson.

Leonard was employed for 15 plus years with the Otis Elevator Company in Yonkers, NY. He went on to work at a Fortune 500 Company Uhlich Colors for 17 years, and a construction company in Tarrytown, NY until his retirement.

Leonard leaves to cherish in his memory his children Steven Carver (Sherri), Roxboro, NC, Paul Brinson (Alexis)Yonkers, Christina Brinson Bronx, NY and Tamela Carter Rocky Mount, NC. Four sisters Carolyn, Jacqueline, and Barbara Pettiford, Blondale Pettiford-Gamble (Frank)Yonkers, one brother Johnnie K. Pettiford Yonkers, two brother and sister-in-laws William Brinson(Patricia) Warsaw, NC., James Brinson (Catherine) Kenansville, NC., two granddaughters Tiffany Brinson Clearwater, FL., Tayleana Latiminer Rocky Mount, NC., two step-grandaughters Taylor and Tai Briggs, Yonkers, three grandsons Jalen and Johnathan Carver, Justin Carter, Roxboro, NC., and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who he loved very much.

Leonard was predeceased by three sisters Juanita Johnson, Josephine Blackwell, and Estelle Pettiford-Hepburn, and six brothers Jerry, Clinton, Billy, James, Larry, and Frankie Pettiford.
