Nancy Doris Perkins

June 26, 1943-June 9, 2024.


Born Nancy Doris Bouchard, of Leonard and Lucy Bouchard (Wawia), whom await her in the spirit world, including siblings: Mary, Leonard, Theodore, Bernice, and Jerry. She will soon meet her son, Kenneth Mitchell Perkins, grandson, Otis William Perkins, granddaughter, Donna Christine Perkins. She is mourned by her son, William Leonard Perkins (Elaine), granddaughters, Roxanne Marie, Cheryl Lynn, and numerous relatives.


She was the first born of twelve siblings and is survived by Lorraine, Nora, Kathy, Monica, Farrell, and Mark. She was born in Gull Bay First Nation, on the shores of Lake Nipigon. The matriarch of her family, that raised her two sons, Willie and Kenny; along with her grand children. She was a devout Catholic that considered becoming a nun until meeting her husband, Glenn Perkins.


Her first language was Anishinaabemowin and English was her second language. She survived residential school and inspired our family to break cycles. She was the first in her family to graduate from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Social Work.


She took pride in her career as a Registered Social Worker at the Smith Margaret Smith Centre and helping others. Always a compassionate woman that took pride in her sobriety. She was a inspiration to us all and will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, at 11:00am at Everest of Thunder Bay, at 299 Waverley St, Thunder Bay, ON P7B 5Z7.
