DEER CREEK – Gary A. Schmidgall, 69, of Deer Creek, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his home.

He was born on August 20, 1954, in Peoria, to Fred and Betty (Roake) Schmidgall.

Surviving are his daughters, Jesse (Jeff) Armstrong of Mackinaw and Heather (Tyler) Rhoades of East Peoria; five grandchildren, Haisley, Owen, Jake, Josh and Halle; and brother, Steven “Mike” (Kary) Schmidgall of Eureka.

Gary retired from Caterpillar after 30 years. He was also a farmer in the Deer Creek area his entire life.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Eureka Apostolic Christian Ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:45 a.m., Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Garden in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Runners’ Association.
