Theresa J. Jendrock Obituary

Theresa (Terry) Jendrock, 93, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Manchester Commons in Fairview, PA.

Terry was a feisty, funny, woman. She loved to laugh, loved movies and music and especially all her trips taken with her sisters through the GE Retirees group. Her favorite GE trip being Branson, MO. Her most favorite with her family was Las Vegas.

Who knew?

Terry graduated from Academy High School in 1949. She always told us she went to Mercyhurst College for one day and decided it just wasn’t for her and decided to go to work instead.

Terry excelled in Gregg shorthand, one of only two students at Academy High School to pass the Expert test which is taking shorthand dictation at 140 words per minute for five minutes. It was an exceptional student to attain that honor. After graduating high school, she went to work at Halle Brothers. She was also employed at GTE, then continued her career for the Commonwealth of PA, first at the UC Office, then as a Clerk Steno 2 at the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, retiring after 28 years of service in 1984. She used her steno skills until the end, joking it was her secret code.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary (Jaglowski) Jendrock, her brothers Richard and Robert Jendrock, sisters Dolores Jendrock Kemp, Blanche, Helen and Marian Jendrock and a nephew, Raymond Kemp.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, a few bonus nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews scattered all around the country.

She is the last of the original Jendrock clan and will be sorely missed. It was a privilege for the family to care for her these past years.

Thank you to the staff of Blue Heron at Manchester Commons. They treated Terry like one of the family and loved her. It showed in their care and concern for her and for how kindly her family was treated. That is a true gift.

Friends may call at Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, PA 16504, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service there at 1:30 p.m. by Pastor John Swindlehurst. Private Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
