Patricia “Pat” Anderson, 94, of the Oakland Heights Assisted Living Facility in Oakland, died Saturday night at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, Neb.
Pat was born on Feb. 26, 1930, and grew up in Oakland. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1947 and from Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., in 1949. She attended the University of Nebraska for an additional year, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
She and Glen H. “Shorty” Anderson were married on Oct. 22, 1950, at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland. The first four years of their marriage were spent in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Glen was serving with the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning to Oakland, they farmed for 12 years in the area, moving to Oakland in 1967. In 1973 they moved to O’Neill, Neb., and returned to Oakland in 1992.
Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oakland, where she served as one of two organists, retiring at age 80, and was a long-time member of the choir. She became a 50-year member in 1994. She belonged to Chapter EL of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her sons, Tim and his wife, Nancy, and Terry and his wife, Laurie, all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Leah Stanton and her husband, Scott, of Reston, Va., Travis Anderson of Lincoln, Adam Anderson and his wife, Katherine, of Lincoln and Maggie Bowen and her husband, Casey, of Spring Hill, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Ben and Lucy Stanton of Reston, Va., Avery Anderson of Lincoln and Finn and Isla Anderson of Lincoln; and her brother, Jack Holmquist of Estes Park, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen H. “Shorty” Anderson; her parents, August and Minerva Holmquist, and her sister Mary Ann Oehring.
