Nathaniel Dean Herron Obituary

Nathaniel Dean Herron, 75 of Hanson passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home with his family at his side.  Born September 9, 1948, to the late Walter and Sue (Cates) Herron.  He had many talents that have served him well throughout his life.  Nathaniel earned a Masters Degree in science/agriculture, he was a master diesel mechanic, he also had electrical, plumbing and construction abilities.  He was the owner-operator of some successful businesses over the years that included a trucking company, Kentucky Diesel Sales & Service. Nathaniel had a heart for God and helping to spread His word as a Southern Baptist preacher and a member of Grapevine Baptist Church.  His interest of motorcycle and horseback riding led to him being part of Pennyrile Faith Riders and an interim pastor at Wranglers Horse Camp.  He and his wife participated with Little Bethel Baptist Association and he was the minister of music at 2nd Baptist Church in Mortons Gap, Slaughters Baptist and Souls Harbour for a while.  As a talented musician and singer he had the opportunity to sing and play with several gospel groups.  He was the manager and host for WSOF Christian Radio and he was part of the bus ministry for Baptist Temple.  A recent venture for him was creating a charity program called "Vans for Vets".  With all of his talents and interests to keep him busy, his family was the center of importance to him and he loved having them around.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers, David Herron, Danny Herron and Richard Herron.

Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sheridan (Horne) Herron; children, Cheri DeAnn Herron, Deanna Carole Herron (Jeffrey) Vaught, Natalie Yvonne Herron and Savannah Dean Herron; grandchildren, Jacqueline Vaught Givens, Charles Dean Vaught, Gabrielle Herron, Dustin Reed Vaught, Alexandra Herron, Brady Herron, and Maxwell Herron Payne; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Yvonne Plunkette, Alisa Betsy Herron Beeny, Roger Herron and Paul Herron; and many nieces and nephews.
