Michael K. Tartsinis Obituary

Michael K. Tartsinis, 84, of Suffield, entered into eternal peace surrounded by his family, Saturday June 8, 2024 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Born in Kavala, Greece, Michael K. Tartsinis was the beloved son of the late Kariofillis and Anna (Tsarouhas) Tartsinis.

Losing his father at a young age, Michael's journey began at the age of 13 as a carpenter apprentice to his neighbor Parasko Kallias woodworking shop in Greece, where his dedication and determination was recognized & quickly became foreman at the age of 17. Mastering his trade with his hard work led him to start Wood Technicians Company in Kavala Greece with 30+ employees at its prime. Despite his perseverance, a devastating fire prompted him to seek new opportunities abroad.

THE AMERICAN DREAM began In 1972, Michael immigrated to the United States with his wife and young children. Settling in Windsor Locks, he started from scratch, working for Olko Construction then going off on his own construction business. His entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to independent ventures, where he excelled in building restaurants, eventually building & owning his own restaurants within his shopping centers. His remarkable journey from humble beginnings to successful business owner is a testament to his relentless determination and hard work ethic, often consisting of a 7-day work week.

Michael's family was the center of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He also enjoyed his garden with his grandchildren which included his prized fig trees imported from Greece. Michael also enjoyed bird hunting, lunches with friends & his son Phil, along with socializing with friends at the Greek Club in Hartford.

Michael leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years Aspasia (Hatzikalevas) Tartsinis, his three children: Anna Sidoroupolis, Stella Tartsinis of Pennsylvania; and beloved son Kariofillis “Phil” Tartsinis of Suffield. He is also survived by his brother George Tartsinis of Suffield, 9 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Nicholas and Dimitrios Tartsinis.

Michael's life was a rich tapestry of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
