Ellen Zanfordino Obituary

Ellen Zanfordino, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, passed away peacefully in her home on June 4th, 2024, aged 100. She was born on July 30th, 1923 and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph, as well as her brothers and sisters of the Vitarelli family: Mary, Joseph, Fay, Peter, Angie, Mimi, Rita, and Bob. She is survived by her devoted children, J. Zanfordino (Adrienne McNair), Nan Carlucci (Steve Wyan), Ellen Daitch (Robert), and Robert Zanfordino (Christina), and loving grandchildren, Lauren Demo (Mike), Rob Carlucci (Elaina), Marc Daitch, Lisa (Daitch) Lebel, Jason Zanfordino (Megan), and Justin Zanfordino. She was also blessed with her adoring great grandchildren, Jordan Zanfordino, Serena Carlucci, and Ryan and Bria Demo.

Ellen was tirelessly devoted to her family as well as being extraordinarily talented. She was a skilled seamstress, artist, cook, and chocolatier – to name a few of her many passions. She enjoyed card games, puzzles, reading, old movies, plays, and music. She refused to be “left behind” in the age of technology and found so much joy in keeping in touch with loved ones through Facebook and Words with Friends. She passed endless skills and talents to her children and grandchildren, cherished memories, recipes, and old Italian sayings. She was the matriarch and pillar of our family, a best friend, confidant, and held an endless supply of wisdom for every situation. She always looked forward to excursions with her club, and had many social circles. Ellen was a devoted wife for all her years, she loved her husband and spoke of him daily, keeping his memory alive even 30 years after he passed in 1994.

Ellen Zanfordino lived a full and vibrant life as a devout Catholic, and her legacy will continue for time immemorial.

The family will be present on Wednesday, June 12th from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704.
