Richard T. "Dick" Hathaway Obituary

Richard T. “Dick” Hathaway, 87, of Grafton, WV (Park View Community), passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at his home. He was born in Grafton on December 11, 1936, the only child to Dorsey Sutherland Hathaway and Gertrude Elizabeth Mathews.


Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Anita (White) Hathaway whom he married on November 5, 1966; one daughter, Amy Elizabeth Hathaway of Clarksburg; two grandchildren: Charles Richard Hoffman of Grafton and Amber Nicole Hoffman of Clarksburg; as well as several nieces and nephews.


Mr. Hathaway was a graduate of Grafton High School Class of 1955 where he played basketball and went with his team to states. Upon graduating he went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force, something he was proud of. After his service he went on to work for Baby World where he worked his way up the ranks to Plant Manager and later retired from there after many years. Dick was an avid golfer and loved spending time at the Tygart Lake golf course, and worked there for a good while too after retirement. He was a past member of the Elks and VFW for many years too.


Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home 950 George Washington Hwy Grafton, WV, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10am with Pastor Michael Delligatti presiding.
