Joyce Carolyn Groome, age 80, of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at her home.

Born November 15, 1943 in Takoma Park, MD, she was the daughter of the late Roy C. Hall and Florence (Irwin) Hall.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Davis and Carter Groome; grandchildren, Hannah Groome, Kayla and Kyle Davis; sister, Marjorie Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce graduated from Takoma Academy and Columbia Union College. Her entire career was spent in the nursing field and caring for others.

A devout Christian, she was a member of Damascus Road Community Church. Known for her vivaciousness and great sense of humor, she was generous with her time, willing to help anyone and everyone. She was remarkably kind and devoted to her family and friends. Some of Joyce’s favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Damascus Road Community Church, 12826 Old National Pike, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Inurnment is planned for a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
