Evelyn Grace Olson Obituary

Evelyn Grace Olson of Farmington beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to heaven to forever be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday May 25th. She will be sincerely missed by all who called her mom, Gramma, G.G. and all that knew her. Born in Meriden, January 6, 1930, daughter of the late Ernest Burkhardt Sr and Ethel Hutton Burkhardt. She is survived by her son Gary and wife Marion Olson of Bristol, daughter Susan and husband Leonard Giachello of Long Beach Ca., daughter Jill and husband Keith Bopp of Unionville, and son Scott and wife Doreen of Charleston, Me. She leaves 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren with two on the way, her sister-in-law, Barbara, and several nephews and nieces. Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard in 2010, her brothers Ernest Jr, and Donald Burkhardt, sister Shirley Olson, nephews, Donald Jr, Ernest Burkhardt 111, Charles Olson Jr, Christopher Olson, Jonathan Olson, and grandson Eli Olson. Evelyn and Howard were married on December 16, 1950, they resided in the home Howard built on Plainville Ave. for 60 years. Evelyn graduated from Lewis High Southington in1947 and Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She worked on the surgical, medical, and pediatric units at Bristol Hospital for 30 years. Evelyn loved bedside nursing. In 1989 she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Charter Oak College. Evelyn's family extends their sincere gratitude to all the caring CNAs and nurses involved with her health and personal care during her last years. Evelyn was living at Farmington Station Compass Care when she fell ill. She was very thankful for the care you gave her, especially challenging her knowledge, competitive spirit and her will to live. Evelyn's ashes will be interned with Howard’s in the Forestville Cemetery. A memorial in honor of her life will be Monday, June 17th at 12 noon at Amistad Hall at First Church of Christ Congregational 75 Main St. Farmington.
