Margaret Faye McGee Obituary

Marjorie Fay (Sumpter) McGee, 94, of Bevier, MO, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Boone Medical Center in Columbia, MO.


Marjorie was born on February 13, 1930, in Macon, MO, the daughter of Arvil and Nelia (Dale) Sumpter. She was united in marriage to Alfred McGee on October 30, 1948, in Aurora, CO. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2013. Majorie worked at Toastmasters in Macon for over forty years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, going to the Rutledge flea market, embroidery and cooking for friends and family. Majorie was happiest when her house was full and the people in it were laughing, telling stories and eating.


Marjorie is survived by three children, James McGee and his wife Marilyn of Poplar Bluff, MO, Wayne McGee of Bevier and JoAnn McPeters of Burnsville, NC, five grandchildren, Molly Barbour and her husband Sam, Carrie Chiarottino and her husband Jeremy, Kimberly Houf and her husband Ryan, Chrissy Graupman and her husband Dustin, and Anthony McGee and his wife Natalie, twelve great grandchildren, Memphis Teter and her husband Wade, Micaela McAlexander and her husband Brandon, Gabe Chiarottino, Garet Chiarottino, Amanda Barbour, Vinae Stillman. Jaxson Houf, Chase Graupman, Sylvee Graupman, Mallery Houf, Levic McGee, and Laric McGee, three great great grandchildren, Maren Teter, Maelee Teter and Emma McAlexander and other extended family and in-laws.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.


Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Burial will be in the Richardsdale Cemetery in Bevier. Visitation will be form 2 to 3 pm at the funeral home in Macon.
