Kent C. Shiao Obituary

Kent Clark Shiao, Shiao Ying Pin, age 53, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on June 4th, 2024. His family will be hosting a celebration of his life from Noon to 2pm, with a time for sharing at 1pm, all on Thursday, June 13th at the Hollis Renewal Center (11414 Kansas Ave. Kansas City, KS. 66111) Memorial contributions can be made to a Go-Fund-Me “Support the Shiao Family in Remembering Kent” to assist his family in this time of need.


Kent was born on July 27, 1970 in Taipei, Taiwan. He moved with his family to the States, and spent most of his younger life in Colorado. in 2006 Kent made the move to Kansas and has been there since. At 6 years of age when they moved to the States, he was able to choose his American name, he chose Kent Clark after Superman. Since 2016 he has been part of the IT Team at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Kent loved building things and had even made his own Kayak that he used in the Missouri 340 (a race on the Missouri River from Kansas City to St. Louis.) He had also participated in half marathons and loved any project or event that was outdoors. Kent loved building stuff and all around his home and in his personal affects you will see the many things he built.


Kent was preceded in death by his father Robert C. Shiao.


Survivors include his three children: Jordan McClain and husband Marc of Bonner Springs, KS, Kelsi Shiao, and Logan Shiao both of Kansas City, Kansas. One granddaughter Juliet. His mother Wol Shing Shiao presently living in China, two sisters: Ellen and Jane Shiao as well as other extended family and friends.
