Clarence Klaas Kingma Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce Clarence (Klaas) Kingma passed away in Ridgeway, Ontario on June 7th, 2024,

after battling cancer. He was in his 82nd year. Clarence was predeceased by his loving wife Joan. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Ann Marie Fitzgerald (Shawn), his son Fred Kingma, and his step daughter Cathy Norton (Eric). Loving grandfather to Jack (Ellen), Michael, Colleen, Mitchell, and Evan. Clarence will also be missed by his siblings and their families: Annie, Sam, Andy, Dorothy, and Rick in Ontario and John, Dina, and Rita, in British Columbia. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved to laugh and spend time with. Clarence was predeceased by his parents John and Aukje Kingma, his brother Douglas and his sisters Gerda and Susan.

Clarence was born in the Netherlands on September 17, 1942 and his family immigrated to Canada in 1952 where life was enjoyed on the family farm in Wainfleet, Ontario. He lived many years in Grimsby and appreciated time with neighbours and friends before moving to Ridgeway to reside with his daughter until his passing.

Clarence was employed at Kingma Movers/Empire Transportation Ltd. For 55 years and often spoke of the houses, churches, cranes and large objects he moved for the company. Clarence & Joan loved to travel and were fortunate to share those experiences with family and friends.

In accordance with Clarence’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will occur at a later date.

Donations can made to the Niagara Health Foundation.
