Joseph A. Piccirillo Obituary

Joseph A. Piccirillo – age 85, husband of the late Ellen L. (Foster) Piccirillo died peacefully Friday, June 7 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading. Joe was often referred to as Joe Pic, Pic, Grumps, Gramps and Grampy Joe.


He was born in Newton, September 28, 1938, a son of the late Antonio and Geni (Giannini) Piccirillo and was raised in Newton and moved to Billerica in 1968. Joseph served in the National Guard.


Joseph was employed as a Configuration Manger for RCA in Burlington having retired after 40 years he later worked for BCO in Billerica. He was also a member of the Tyngsborough Rod and Gun Club and the NRA.


He is survived by his children, Lisa Sullivan and her husband Dean of Billerica and Michael Piccirillo and his wife Lauren of Littleton; his brother, Paul Piccirillo of Harvard; his grandchildren, Joshua Sullivan and his wife Lucy, Daniel Sullivan, Ana Victoria and her husband Corey, Anthony Piccirillo and Great Granddaughter Eloise Sullivan.

He was the longtime companion of the late Jean Hamilton and was the brother of the late George and Vito Piccirillo, and Bernice and Phyllis Antonellis.


Joe loved the outdoors and he could frequently be seen working in his garden, mowing the lawn and tending to his fruit trees. He enjoyed taking long walks at Great Brook Farm, and visiting friends in Maine. Most of all he loved his family.


Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 10 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A graveside service will held Tuesday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, www.jimmyfund.org .
