Victor Stanley Akerley Obituary

With great sadness the family of Victor Stanley Akerley announce his passing on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. With his family by his side. He was born May 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Albert and Violet (Webster) Akerley. The beloved husband of Judith Akerley (Goldsworthy) for over 62 years. His loss will be deeply felt by his children Richard Akerley, Charlene Grant ( Richard) and Sherry Pope (Tony), his grandchildren Courtney (Chris), Britney (Jarret), Stephanie (Greg), Tyler (Catherine), Chelsey, Connor (Teagan) and Cameron (Anna), his great-grandchildren Madelynn, MacKenna, Allie, Brinley, Olivia, Marley, Kendal, Andi and Violet. He is survived by his sister Eleanor Armstrong-Haley. Predeceased by his sister Louise Forbes.  He will also be dearly missed by many family members and friends. Victor was a long time employee of Kays Auto and the bus garage in Hampton, after his retirement he joined his son Richard screening gravel. He loved hunting and 4 wheeling, he was a hobby carpenter and enjoyed watching hockey. More than all of that he was a family man first, he loved his family, he could always be counted on for a good joke. He kept us laughing right to the end. He will be missed by all that knew him. We would also like to thank Extra Mural for their care, and the excellent care he received while he was in the hospital. It was top notch!

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). In keeping with Victor’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Victor can be made to Extra Mural Sussex NB,  St. Peters Anglian Church Wickham NB, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
