Violet Freund Obituary

Violet Freund, nee Klingspon, was born in New Sarepta, AB, on October 17, 1934 to Herman and Teofila Klingspon. She was the fifth of nine children. Violet grew up in the New Sarepta area.

Violet had the job as a live in Nanny, housekeeper and cook for a wealthy family. One time when she went out on a date with Ted, she was to get back by a certain time, but they saw the lady of the house was there so they continued on their date and when she returned back, she was in big trouble. The lady of the house stated to Vi, “Who’s more important, your boss or your boyfriend?” Mom said.” My boyfriend” and was promptly fired. Needless to say, Violet and Ted had fallen quickly in love and married three months later on her 19th birthday.

Violet was known for her hospitality, she always served with a smile on her face even when she was unwell. Violet volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary Hospital. She was part of a quilting bee with the church and worked hard when the Stony Plain Alliance Church built the family centre, staining cabinets. Violet had her own company called, “Vi’s Painting”. She had a wonderful sense of humor and love to play the organ (by ear) for her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Marilyn; her sons: Dan, Randy (Janice nee Gitzel), Willy (Janice nee Hillacre); 10 grandchildren: Shane (Michelle), Barry, Aaron (Heather), Adam (Chesley), Rachelle (Peter), Mike (Amanda), Jolayne (Chace), Mychele (Evan), Larissa (Mitch), David; 17 great grandchildren: Lincoln, Carson, Malia, Katie, Gracie, Weston, Alexandra, Mathais, Arianna, Samuel, Ben, Mila, Kayde, Malach, Naphtali, Solveig and Teagan and sister in laws; Irene Klingspon, Hertha Klingspon and Lil Goodzeck.
