ROWLAND BROWN

December 11, 1961, ~ June 07, 2024

It is with profound sorrow that the Owners, Management and Staff at Gatlin Mortuary, Inc. stand alongside the Brown Family to announce the transition of their beloved:

Mr. Rowland Brown was born on Monday, December 11, 1961. After 62 years of sunlight, Mr. Brown passed in the sunset of his life, on Friday, June 7, 2024.

Rowland Brown, Sr., was born on December 11, 1961, in Valdosta, Georgia, to Lucinda Brown and the late Eugene Brown, Sr. He was educated in the Valdosta public school system and held a supervisory position at the Southern State Feed Plant for 17 years until his career was cut short due to a work-related back injury.
Rowland was a man of undeniable street-smarts, tenacity, and strength who got things done by any means necessary. He excelled in his job, but his true dedication was as an affectionate husband and loving father. He embodied the spirit of a strong protector, always ensuring the safety and well-being of his family. Rowland was the type of father and grandfather who did not sugar-coat his words, yet they were always spoken with love. He had a deep affection for pit bulls, whom he considered his other children, and he was rarely seen without at least three, except during his illness.
In the early hours of Friday, June 7, 2024, Rowland was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer. Although we miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing that God saw fit to bring him to a place where there is no more pain or suffering.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, William Brown, Joseph Williams, Archie Williams, Sr., and Samuel Jones (brother-in-law).
Rowland leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 32 years, Deborah Brown, with whom he shared a beautiful 39-year relationship; children, Pamela (Kenneth) Williams Ward, Timothy (Cristina) Williams, Tangela Williams, Roland Brown, Jr., Cory (Shavisha) Williams, Marcus Williams, Juwan (Bridget) Brown, and Sabrina Brown; loving mother, Lucinda Brown; two brothers, Curtis Williams and Eugene (Arlene) Brown, Jr.; six sisters, Daisy Mae (Herman) Richards, Eugena Blankumsee, Dorothy Brown, Denoise Horton, Jacquelyne Gray, and Vorice Jones (sister-in-law); special son, Maurice Williams; special daughter, Jarilyn Brown; 28 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Rowland’s legacy of strength, love, and dedication will live on through his family and all who knew him. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed
