David “Mike” Micheal Martin Obituary

David Micheal Martin, 71 of White Plains passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Heartford House in Owensboro.  Born March 13, 1953, to the late George and Betty (Brothers) Martin, Jr.  He worked several coal mines throughout his mining days including Pyro, Diamond, Sinclair and Peabody.  Mike worked as an electrician for both residential and commercial construction, along with HVAC and plumbing.  He also worked at the White Plains Water Department for many years.  He served as the mayor of White Plains where he worked to keep the town clean and was able to get a playground installed during his term.  Mike was part of the Cat’s Den coffee club for many years, he enjoyed the friendships he made.  His biggest joy and pride was his children and family and spending time them or lending a hand.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Martin; and infant sister, Carol Martin.

Survived by his children, Kimberly (Kenny) Whitfield of White Plains, Chris (Amanda) Martin of White Plains and Jordan (Erica) Martin of Greenville; 8 grandchildren, Courtney Nelson, Chandler Martin, Chloe Whitfield, Trace Myers, Cain Zimmerman, Ava Martin and Jameyson Martin; great-grandchild, Bralynn Martin; and siblings, Patricia (Ricky) Taylor, Lola (Jerry) Hicks, Larry (Teresa) Martin, Susie Martin and Jane Martin.

Service will be held Saturday, June 15, at 12:30pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Patricia Taylor officiating.  Burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in White Plains.  Visitation will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home.
