Cynthia "Cindy" Renee Akin Obituary

Cynthia "Cindy" Renee Webb Akin, age 62 of Buchanan, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 6, 2024.  Born in Carrollton on March 5, 1962, she was the only child of the late Clarence Webb and Janelle Webb Garrett.

Cindy spent her life taking care of everyone.  Married to Johnny for over 43 years, she was his rock.  Cindy had a sweet spirit and loved making people laugh. For over 35 years, she had participated in Vacation Bible School, usually as a character in one of the skits, at Baptist Tabernacle where she was a member. Cindy was known as "Nanny" to those she loved most, her children and grandchildren.  She held everything together and will be sorely missed by all.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Johnny Akin of Buchanan; daughter, Ashley Thompson of Tallapoosa; son and daughter-in-law, Justin (Gomer) and Mallory Akin of Bremen; grandsons, Seth Thompson, Eli Thompson, Caleb Akin, Barrett Akin, Graham Akin, and Sawyer Akin; brother-in-law, Tony Akin; sister-in-law, Angie Williams; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Baptist Tabernacle with Reverend Joey Meeks, Reverend John Lemmings, Reverend Blake Terry and Brother Nathan Worthy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Howard Jackson, Dewaine Pierce, Christian Evans, Dakota Evans, Josh Worthy, Jeff Worthy, Justin Akin, and Seth Thompson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are grandsons: Eli Thompson, Caleb Akin, Barrett Akin, Graham Akin, and Sawyer Akin.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the church from 2:00 PM until the service hour.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Akin family.
