Joseph Maurice Lucier (Contois) Obituary

It's with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Maurice Lucier (Contois). Joe was born July 18, 1950 at the Ashern Hospital and passed away on May 27, 2024 at the age of 73 years at the Deer Lodge Center.

He is predeceased by his mom Sarah Jane, dad Samual, brothers Dougie and Edwin, brother-in-law Clifford, sisters Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Blanche, his nieces Evelyn and Debbie along with his special friend and wife Elvina.

He is survived by his sisters Josephine (Chuck), Cecile, Linda and Jacqueline, brothers Russell, Derek, Stanley, Peter and twin Bill along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe lived in Gypsumville, Manitoba as a young boy then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he grew up all his life. He worked as a garbage collector most his life and enjoyed his job. He was the most kind and caring person who had the biggest heart. He would give you the last of what he had if you asked him for it. He enjoyed visiting with family when he could. Two of his favorite animals were eagles and wolves. Joe liked to joke around, make everyone laugh and a special place in everyone’s heart. He will forever be missed.

A Celebration of Joe's Life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel with the interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
