Barry Eugene Brubaker, age 79, passed away on June 1, 2024, at Community Hospice McGraw Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on June 28, 1944, in Terre Hill, Pennsylvania, to the late Melvin Rupp Brubaker and Emma Mary Good Brubaker. Barry was a proud resident of Atlantic Beach, Florida, for 50 years. He honorably served in the United States Navy for 25 years, demonstrating dedication and patriotism. Following his distinguished military career, Barry worked in security at Mayo Clinic, where he retired after 17 years of service. Barry was happily married to the love of his life, Minnie O. Stansel Brubaker, for 56 wonderful years. Together, they raised their family in Atlantic Beach, creating a home filled with love and cherished memories. Barry had a passion for sports, particularly the Atlanta Braves and Penn State. He enjoyed working with his hands, tending to his garden, and listening to 1950s music. Above all, Barry treasured spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Barry is survived by his wife, Minnie O. Brubaker of Atlantic Beach, FL; sons, Stephen R. (Ann) May of Monroe, LA., Richard J. May of Atlantic Beach, FL; brother, Terry Lee (Darlene) Brubaker of Plains, MT; sister, Naomi Faye (Dick) Strothers of Ephrata, PA; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Barry's life will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Beaches Memorial Park Chapel. Interment will follow at Beaches Memorial Park where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Chapel.
