Ying Lim Obituary

Ying Lim, beloved father, husband, son, brother and a wonderful human being, embarked on his final adventure on June 1st, 2024.

Born in Singapore on June 22, 1967, he was destined to bring love, compassion, and tremendous positive energy to those who have met him. Never wanting to trouble others and always the first to help, he lived his life always with a smile of content, courage and strength, particularly in the final 14 months of living with cancer.

Ying immigrated to the United States in 1996 where he met the love of his life, Min-Hwei Liu. Together they raised two beautiful girls, who were the world to him. He dedicated his life to be a present father, to always be there for them. While the love for Singapore never faded, Ying fully embraced his life in the United States, particularly the time spent with nature, camping, National Parks, and more importantly his "girls", the Taiwan-Tico family, Chinese Language School, and friends that brought him a fulfilled life and a sense of community.

Throughout his career as a Software Lead at Accenture, Aetna and CVS Health, he was a dedicated employee. His excellence in execution brought him promotional opportunities that he refused, prioritizing his girls above all. As a volunteer for the Chinese Language School of Greater Hartford, Ying spread his joy as an MC to many of the events, and behind scenes in the admission office for the school which he continued to do until the end.

Ying's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Min-Hwei Liu; his daughters Jean-Yee Lim and Ann-Yee Lim of West Hartford; his mother Ah Muy Chua; his brother Ping Lim and his sisters Ching Lim and Ling Lim and their families of Singapore. He is predeceased by his father Kim-Siew Lim. He is also survived by his chosen family and by many who called him "Uncle Ying".

And a special thanks to the team at Smilow Cancer Center and Connecticut Hospice, who became allies and partners in his life journey. Ying was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His strength, courage and kindness will continue to fuel his family and friends

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday (June 11th) at The Ahern Funeral Home, 180 Farmington Ave., Hartford from 5pm-7pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National Park Foundation in memory of Ying Lim
