Bob Janca was born July 13, 1928 in Olney, Texas and entered into rest May 28, 2024 in Houston, Texas at the age of 95.


He was a Navy veteran serving on the USS Boxer and USS Curtis and participated in the atomic bomb testing in the South Pacific.


Bob met his wife Jane, in Wichita Falls. They were married and first settled in San Diego CA, where Bob was stationed. They later moved to Corpus Christi, where their first two sons were born and then relocated to Houston in the mid 50’s. Upon their arrival in Houston, Bob worked in lumber sales to local home builders.


He later became a Home Builder. Over the decades he would build many homes, apartments, and townhouses not only in Houston but also New Orleans and California. 

Bob along with Vernon Bratten, were involved in building the original Westbury Square Shopping Center. Bob built houses and townhomes in Westbury, Sagemont, Quail Valley, West Hollow, Memorial, and many other areas throughout the Houston area. He and his wife, Jane also owned and operated the old Westbury Lumber Company.  Bob and Jane purchased a ranch near Ellinger, TX and thoroughly enjoyed weekends on the ranch.


Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane; his parents, Frank and Myrtle Janca; his brothers, Jimmy, Freddy, Billy; his sisters, Paula and Peggy.


He is survived by his sons and their wives, Bobby & Paulette in Oroville, CA, Billy & Barbara in Houston TX, Jeff & Pam in Leakey, TX; his friend and companion, Cathy Young and her sons, David, Scott, and Steve along with their spouses and families; grandchildren, Jason, (Heather), Becky (Brian), Billy (Joanna), Abby (Garrett), and Christina; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Kevin ), Briana, Emily, Maya, Hayden; and one great-great-granddaughter, Jessica; along with numerous nieces and nephews.


Bob was a member of Westbury Baptist Church.


Services will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with services officiated by Rev. Jeff Janca.


 In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Program.
