Francis “Fran” Karl, Sr., age 71, of Faribault, died on Friday, May 24, 2024 peacefully at home.


Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Faribault on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Matthew D. Lane officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.


Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Wednesday, May 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.


Francis Raymond, son of John and Amalda Karl, was born on February 19, 1953. He was born and raised on the family farm and farming was always in his blood. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1971. Fran married Ruth Kalow on June 12, 1971, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Fran was previously employed by Land O’Lakes, Murphy Freight Lines, Prodient and the Department of Corrections. Over the years, Fran was always willing to help friends, as well as his brother and uncle on the farm.


He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Faribault; daughter, Theresa Hathaway (and Donald Thomas) of Tuttle, OK; son, Francis Karl, Jr. of Faribault; son in law, Tod (Dawn) Steinbauer of Owatonna; four grandchildren, Trent (and Shauna) Karl, Thomas Karl, Connor (and Lacey) Hathaway and Logan Hathaway; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Carol (and Dick) Vilendrer, Susan (and Rick) Schultz, Joanne (and Dave) Lippert; brother, Larry (and Marsha) Karl; many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Beth Steinbauer; sisters, Ruth (Brian) Miller, Mary Jean (Elmo) Begin and Janet (Denny) DeCoux; siblings in infancy, Evelyn, Theresa, James, Steven.
