Charles W. Confer, age 83, formerly of Linwood, was called home on May 24, 2024. He was

born on May 12, 1941, the son of the late John and Ilene (Baker) Confer. He lived life to the

fullest, enjoying hunting, skiing, fishing, golfing, poker and slots. Charles proudly served in

the United States Air Force, stationed in Texas and California. When discharged from the

Air Force he worked at Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe became his favorite place to ski

and vacation. Charles retired from Ironworkers Local 25. He was a member of the

morning coffee group, meeting many, many times at Turkey Roost and Linwood Corners.

He was also a regular at the neighbor’s weekly poker group for many years.

Surviving family include his children, Karen (Kevin) Snyder and Dale (Kelly) Confer,

grandchildren, Kristen Confer, Aaron Snyder, and Katherine (Jason) Bender, and great

granddaughter, Adelyn Mae Bender. Also surviving him are step children Kenneth Heim,

Carl (Grace) Heim, and Linda (David) Conger, a step daughter-in-law, Carol Gehringer, and

step-grandchildren Eric (Lauren) Heim, Brandon Conger, Nicole (David) Savage, and Kyle

(Kendra) Conger. He is also survived by a brother in law, Rondell Guoan, and several nieces

and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan (Kukla) Confer, his second wife,

Patricia (Periard) Confer, his sisters, Patsy Guoan and Bonnie (William) Lutz, and a stepson,

David Heim.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff and residents

of Brookdale of Midland and American’s Home Health & Hospice, who helped make his

final days comfortable.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm with a service beginning at 7:00pm on

Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Rivertown Funeral Home in Kawkawlin, Michigan. In lieu of

flowers those desiring to make a contribution are asked to donate to Area 9 Special

Olympics.
