Patricia Ann Smith, lovingly known as Patty, 86, passed away on May 20, 2024, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV. Patty was born on December 7, 1937, in Bellaire, OH, the daughter of Owen L. and Elizabeth (Durant) Campbell.


In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband Norman S. Smith, Sr.; her son Tommy "Dino" Smith; son-in-law Scott Melko; grandson Owen Smith; sisters Mary Ward, Betty Lee Gentile and Judy Ferrel; and brother Owen "Boz" Campbell.


Patty will be deeply missed by her children Norman (Linda) Smith of Benwood, Erin (John) Bonar of McMechen, Kelly (Mary Beth) Smith of Glen Dale, Monica Melko of Benwood, and Jim (Linda) Smith of Glen Dale; grandchildren Zac (Nicole) Graebe, Amber (Seth)Graebe, Johnny (Katrina) Bonar, Robbie (Sarah) Bonar, Brandon Smith, Andrew (Jessica) Smith, Brock (Karley) Melko, Beth Ann (Zach) Winland, Bria (Trent) Wolfe, Deidre Nebavi, Nate Smith, and Nolan Smith; great-grandchildren Teagan, Tatum, Kenzlee, Talor, Peyton, Jackson, Kennedy, Marshall, Carter, Declan, IvyKate, Scarlett, Florence, Graham, Beckham, Abram, Norah, and Justine; sisters Owena Liberati and Nancy Wojcik.


Patty embodied the true essence of love and dedication throughout her life. As a devoted homemaker, she poured her heart into nurturing and caring for her family. Her unwavering commitment and boundless affection created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories that will be treasured forever.


In addition to her role as a loving homemaker, she also was a cook at Bishop Donahue High School for several years. Her kind spirit left a lasting impact on the students and staff alike.


A proud graduate of the former St. John Central High School in Bellaire, OH, Patty's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Benwood, WV, where she found solace, community, and spiritual fulfillment.


Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 26, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 27 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Benwood, WV with entombment directly following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.


Patty's kindness, strength, and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion and devotion will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate to be part of her life.
