Elinor Emmons Hartsell Obituary

Elinor Emmons Hartsell, a long-time resident of Hot Springs Village, died Saturday, May 18, at 92.

She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Robert L. "Bob" Hartsell.

She is survived by: her daughter Lynaire and her wife, Rosanne; her son, Bruce, and his wife, Jan; and her daughter Nikki. She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.

Mrs. Hartsell grew up with her five brothers on the family farm in Sikes, Louisiana. She earned degrees from Louisiana Tech University and Kansas State University and was ABD from Louisiana State University. She was a public-school teacher, university faculty member, and private-school administrator through much of her career.

Later in life, she was a real-estate investor, real-estate agent, and small-business owner. She was active in her church, professional associations, and civic clubs. She was a member of Village Treasure Hunters antiques group and Village Carillons community handbell choir and served terms as president of both HSV Board of Realtors and DeSoto Women's Club. Continuing a life-long interest in politics, she was a member of HSV Democratic Club.

She will be remembered for mentoring students and always finding the best in people she met while also having little patience for those whose esteem exceeded their accomplishment.
