ELISA BELLANTUONO Obituary

Elisa Bellantuono

A Resident of Harwood Heights for 55 years.

Elisa Bellantuono, 90, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family May 18, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. She left an incredible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.

She was born October 19, 1933 in Mola di Bari, Italy, to the late Paolo and Pasqua Ranieri. Elisa’s love for flowers and gardening bloomed early and remained a passion throughout her life. She was known for her green thumb, able to take the smallest plants and flowers and nurture them into large beautiful plants. Elisa’s family cherish the memories they have of her in the kitchen and her creativity of making a feast out of nothing in a moment's notice.

It wasn't a party unless there was her delicious focaccia and fritatta. With a feisty “Mangia!” She welcomed all to her table, and if you left her house hungry that was your own fault! Her passion was feeding her family and sending them home with plenty of leftovers.

Her love of nature and animals were passed on with warm expression that she proudly shared and instilled in her children and grandchildren.

When she wasn’t gardening or cooking and baking with immense love for her family, she enjoyed reading, bible study, word search puzzles, knitting and crocheting.

Best of all, she loved to reminisce about wonderful memories with the family over the years. She would recall many family trips and special camping trips with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite was the trip to Canada to see the majestic and breathtaking wonder of Niagara Falls. Her greatest treasures were of her grandchildren and the joy of their excitement in carrying on family traditions.

Loving mother to Rosa (Anthony), Pasqua (Gerard), and Isabella (Richard); beloved grandmother to Anthony, Nicholas (Caitlyn), Jessica (Brandon), Gabrielle, Teodoro, Domenico, and Ramon; cherished sister to Pellegrino (Crescenza); loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; dear friend and neighbor to many. She is preceded in death by her husband Domenico, her son Vito, grandchildren Concepcion and Vito, and 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters.

Elisa’s spirit lives on in all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her love of life, family, and all things beautiful continue to inspire us as we carry her memory forward.

Per Elisa’s wishes and in accordance with the Jehovah Witness faith, services and interment are private.
