Timothy D. "Tim" Reed Obituary

Timothy D. “Timmy” Reed, age 63, of Geneva, passed away peacefully on

Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, surrounded by his

loving family.

Tim was born on January 2, 1961, in Chicago, the son of Thomas and Angela

Reed. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

Tim was a man who lit up any room with his smile. He was a man of God who

strived everyday to allow the Lord to guide him to be the best husband and father

he could be.

Married to his wife Sylvia for nearly 40 years, Tim most certainly proved that true

love does exist. He showed not only his children but all of those who knew of their

love story, a tried and true example of what it means to be a dedicated husband &

father.

His crazy stories and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who had the

pleasure of knowing him. If he wasn’t spending time with his loved ones, you could

find Tim tending to his garden and numerous plants or kicking back watching a

classic western.

A John Wayne fanatic and a jack of all trades, Tim's strong work ethic, developed

from a young age, continued throughout his entire life not just in his professional

life but in his personal life as well. Whether it was cutting grass, changing brakes,

or just lending an ear, Tim would be the first to lend a hand to anyone in a time of

need. A father figure to countless kids in the neighborhood, known for offering a

safe space, plenty of laughs, and his unwavering support to anyone who visited his

home, without judgment.

Tim cherished cheering on his adult daughter at her softball games, often with a

cooler full of hot dogs in tow. At the age of 62, he even became a kickball

champion, demonstrating his love of life and willingness to join in on a good time.

Those who knew him will always remember his kindness, his sense of humor, and

his fierce love for his family. Tim was truly one of a kind, a beautiful soul who had

an abundance of love to give.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sylvia; his children, Nicole, Kyle,

Jessica and bonus daughter, Jennifer Smothers; his most precious grandchildren,

Penelope, Odin, and Zamira; his siblings, Tom, Ramona, Melissa Rose, Donna

(Gregory) Richardson, and Kelly (Spence) Huffsteadler; countless nieces &

nephews, and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sibling, Russell Smith.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 3:00 pm until the time of his

memorial service at 6:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State Street

(Route 38), Geneva.

Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Tim’s honor

would be appreciated.
