Shirley Wetzel Obituary

     Shirley Wetzel, age 81 of Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born May 22, 1942 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Calvin Webb and Elizabeth Davis Webb. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Dean Webb; and two sisters: Betty Petry and Joyce Music.

     She is survived by her husband, Charles Fred Wetzel; one son, Charles “Chuck” Wetzel of Van Lear, Kentucky; three granddaughters: Kayla Hollon (Tyler), Elizabeth Wetzel (Jon Robinson), and Lindsay Wetzel; along with three great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Kentucky. Gerald Preston, Fred Salyer, and Claude Mollette will officiate. Friends may visit at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm and on Wednesday after 9:00am until time of services at 11:00am.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
