Marcile B. Matheny Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Marcile B. Matheny (Granny) are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Naff Avenue Church of Christ, with Mr. Dwight Dell and Mr. Corey Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, May 20, 2024, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home.


Mrs. Matheny, a member of Naff Avenue Church of Christ, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of ninety-five. She was a member of a quilting group, a domino playing club, and also volunteered at the hospital. Above all, Mrs. Matheny loved her church family and always put church work first in her life.


She is survived by her daughter, Connie Reynolds, and husband Michael of Hermitage, AR; son, Charles Thomas Matheny, and wife Katie of Bastrop, LA; sons-in-law, Richard Reynolds of Bastrop, LA, and Dwight Dell, of Magnolia, TX; sister, Jean Scoggins of Oak Grove, LA; grandchildren, Shelley Reynolds Washam, and husband Kevin, Stephanie Reynolds, Shane Reynolds, and wife Pam, Stacey Smith, and wife Kathy, Shannon Reynolds, and wife Angel, Amy Ricks, and husband Phillip, Paige Waddell, and husband Corey, Heath Dell, and wife Jessica; nineteen great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; special family, Sam and Pam Little, Christina, and Clair; and lifelong friend, Lexie Harper.


Mrs. Matheny is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Thomas Matheny, Jr; daughters, Phyllis Dell, Glenda Matheny Reynolds; granddaughter, Audra Lynn Matheny; and brother, Charles Cecil Babcock.


Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Washam, Stacey Smith, Shannon Reynolds, Heath Dell, Phillip Ricks, and Phillip Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Dreher, Jeff Maxwell, Terry Tanksley, Scotty Townsend, and Sam Little.
