Archie Kenneth Wilson Obituary

Archie Kenneth Wilson, formerly of Liberty, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, AL. He was 86 years old.

Kenneth was born September 29, 1937, in Casey County to the late Willie and Esta Mae Zachary Wilson. He was a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church.  Kenneth was a retired Master Sergeant with the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War with a medical squadron section. He also served as a security police officer and later served as a medical administration superintendent before his retirement. Following his military career, he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and worked as a Post Master with the United States Postal Service and retired from the United States Federal Government.

He loved spending time with family, particularly playing golf, card games, watching University of Kentucky sports, and reading western novels. He enjoyed attending church and was also a member of the Casey County Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Carl, Ivan, Leo, Harold and Dale Wilson; and sisters, Veltha True, Dee Lay and Jean Johnston.

He is survived by his loving wife, whom he wed on September 11, 1960, Jeannie Reed Wilson of Huntsville, AL; his daughter, Kimila W. Murphy and his son, Kenneth Reed Wilson, both of Huntsville, AL; his granddaughter, Brittney Eryn Murphy of Huntsville, AL; his brother, Paul David (and Sharon) Wilson of Elkton, KY; his sister Patricia Wilson of Liberty, KY; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Donovan Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.  Visitation will be 12:00PM to 2:00PM Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Paul Ponder, Terry Wilson, Corey Dial, Reegan Randolph, Philip Williams and Hagen Williams.  Willis Lee will be an honorary pallbearer.

In memory of Kenneth, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans organization (DAV).
