Kenneth W. Shannon, 79, of Palmyra, MO passed away at 1:18 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, MO.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Greg Mitchell and Pastor Mike Rickman will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors performed by Boots-Dickson Post #174 of the American Legion will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.


Friends and family are invited to Kenny’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the funeral home.


Kenny was born August 2, 1944, in Palmyra, MO to Russell and Alma L. Allison Shannon. He married Delma Maddox Shannon on October 10, 1965, in Palmyra, MO. She survives.


Other survivors include his daughter Kimberly Ann Shannon of Palmyra, MO, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.


Kenny was preceded in death his parents, son, Shawn W. Shannon, brothers, Charles W. Shannon, Lawrence Shannon, Gerald Shannon and 2 infant brothers.


Kenny lived a life marked by service, humor, and kindness. A proud veteran, he served his country with honor in the Marines during the Vietnam War.


Kenny's passions were as broad as his smile, from cheering on his favorite sports teams to meticulously adding to his military-themed collection of hats and pens. He was a man who could be found either engrossed in a classic western, planning his next trip to Branson, MO, while listening to some classic country or gospel music or enjoying the great outdoors while deer hunting and fishing. His prowess at the grill was legendary among his friends and family perfecting his bar-be-que chicken.


Those who knew Kenny will remember him as a man who was not only funny and friendly but also exceptionally kind. His laughter and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Kenny was a member of the Palmyra First Assembly of God.


Pallbearers will be David Drebenstedt, Darryl Drebenstedt, Daniel Drebenstedt, Douglas Drebenstedt, Mike Shannon, and Julia Sapp.


Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, American Lung Association or Palmyra First Assembly of God.


Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Drebenstedt, David Hill, Steve Berry, great nephews and nieces, and the men of the Palmyra Assembly of God.
