Ann Marie Pesante Obituary

Ann Marie Pesante (nee Savastano), 89, of West Caldwell and West Orange, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Visiting will be on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 p.m. at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J. Services and interment will be private.

For directions or to send the family condolences please visit www.ippolitofuneralhomes.com.

Born in Newark, N.J., Ann graduated from Our Lady of the Valley in Orange. She met Mario in 1953 at a New Year’s Eve Party and her story began. She and Mario settled in Bloomfield and East Orange, eventually moving to West Caldwell in 1970. Ann was ahead of her time, working full-time in the 1960’s as a Government Contractor for the Department of Defense at DECAS in Springfield and the Picatinny Arsenal. She retired after a storied 40 plus year career to care for her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Once the kids got big, she went back to work part-time at Macy’s at the Short Hills Mall in the Fine Jewelry Department – she had the gift of gab and did very well as a Saleswoman until her “final retirement” in 2012 to care for Mario.

Ann made friends wherever she went – she loved a good time and always had a funny story or joke to tell. Family gatherings were always an event and full of surprises. Ann enjoyed “cutting a rug’ and “cruising” with Mario back in the day; having COLD spaghetti and a glass of red wine at 2 a.m. when she couldn’t sleep and being close enough to watch her grandkids grow up over dinner or a BBQ.

The beloved wife of the late Mario A. Pesante, Jr., she is the loving mother of Stephen Pesante and his wife, Carrie; dear sister of Virginia Bianco; nieces Alma D’Onofrio and Virginia Scholven; and cherished grandmother of Matthew Pesante and his wife, Elle, and Danielle Nodoro and her husband Vincent, and her many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17, Chicago, IL, 60601 or at https://www.alz.org would be appreciated.
