Owen Otto Thompson, Sr. 89, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on April 11, 1935 in Lamar, Oklahoma. He is the son of James Monroe and Jesse Lee (Allen) Thompson. Owen went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at his residence in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.

Owen served his country in the United States Navy from January 31, 1956 to 1958 as a Boatswains Mate and was honorably discharged.

He married the love of his life and soul mate, Maria Guadalupe Samarripas on March 15, 1968 in Sayre, Oklahoma.

Owen was employed by Harold's Concrete, Turner Brothers, and Hodges as a diesel mechanic and could fix anything. His hobbies he enjoyed were, crossword puzzles, playing his harmonica, going fishing and camping. Owen was a very giving and compassionate man, he was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church, Elk City, Oklahoma. Most of all he loved spending time traveling to visit family, talking about the old days, and spending time with his family and friends. Owen will be greatly missed by his family and friends that knew him.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, Elk City, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, Elk City, Oklahoma. Deacon Bill Roesch will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Cherishing his memory is his wife, Maria Thompson of Elk City, Oklahoma; two sons, Owen Otto Thompson Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Ricky Thompson; two daughters, Joanna Norton and her husband, Mark, Rosa Burns and her husband, Eddie; grandchildren, Shaylene Menge and her husband, Gary, Shelby Thompson, Chelsea Medina and her husband, Charlie, Janel Spitz and her husband, Michael, Candy Sockwell and her husband, Blake, Emily Johnson and her husband, Kyle, Maura Kendall and Scott, Skyler Norton and Miranda Snodgrass, Jennifer Shield and her husband, Bart, Jon Burns, Bailey Hughey; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Charles, Zoey Medina, Bella Eden, Katie Spitz, Natalia Sockwell, Scarlett and Leland Kendall, Haley Martin, Leah and Landon Burns, Logan and Ainsley Shields, Sydney Shields; great-great grandchildren, Brooklynn Medina, Finley Quarles; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Owen is preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe and Jesse Lee Thompson; his six sisters, Altie, Augusteen, Rosamay, Pauline, Martha, Christine; three brothers, Lonnie, Wesley, and Leslie.
