Phyllis L. Schiffer Obituary

On May 13th, Phyllis Schiffer (nee Templeman) passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Phyllis was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Mount Mercy High School. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Economics  from The University of Iowa, and after raising a family, in 1984 she achieved a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry, her brother Donald Templeman, her daughters Kathryn (Bscherer) and Victoria, and son Daniel.  She is survived by sons David, Andrew, Martin, and Richard, son-in-law Curtis Bscherer and daughter-in-law June Schiffer. She will be missed by grandchildren Chad, Jamie, Ben, Nicki, Nick, and Adam, as well as ten great grandchildren.

Phyllis was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.  She, Hank and Don participated in several Elderhostels abroad.  She enjoyed learning about different cultures, learning and speaking Spanish, and even welcomed visitors from other countries as an exchange host.  Phyllis greatly enjoyed supporting the arts.  She was a great fan of theater, opera, classical music and ballet and helped pass that enjoyment along to many members of her family.  She also lent a great deal of her time and talents to helping out with the Cub Scouts activities, and we always had the best costumes.  Mom (Grandma) loved being surrounded by her family and we will miss her very much.

Private services will be held.
